Shameless Self Promotion

Since I have no shame and my blog readers seem to be of a cultured sort (although not you Coil :) ), I thought I would let you know of a concert that I am participating in.

My choir, The Embassy Singers, are singing Britten's War Requiem with a choir from Scotland, and the Berliner Konzert Chor along with a full orchestra of course on April 26th in Berlin.

This Requiem is very beautiful and has a very interesting history. Benjamin Britten was a pacifist during WWII and only recently composed this music (~1962). It is sung mostly in Latin with poems by a British soldier Wilfred Owens interspersed. You can read more about the history here.

If you are interested, you can buy your tickets at the website below and they run from 10 to 25 Euros. (I don't even get any deals so don't ask!)

Here are some samples of the music if you would like to hear it first.

So get out there and get your culture on! :)

That's cool; I really like Britten. Wish I could be there!
