Breaking News! for nerds....

German scientists have discovered a new element for the periodic table!

This element will be placed at position 112. It only exists for milliseconds (although an isotope of 112 can last for 1/2 a second) and it has only been observed 4 times but hey, it still gets its own box on the Periodic Table!

Since German scientists discovered it, they get to name it. My bets so far are on Hasselhoffium after David Hasselhoff. What are yours?

Perhaps "Pfingsten". Or "Yeswecanium".

Goetheum?

I bet that its name centers around pork/pigs, like so much of the German slang.

Saumium
Schweinium
Mastschweintine
Schwinom

Sweet No says:
Semisekundium - Because of its short life.

Yeswecanium? These are German scientists! Although if you saw TQE's post about all of the Obama stuff in Weimer...

Gotheium is a good guess CN. Every city seems to have a Goethestr why not a Goethe element?

@ Snook - I am totally digging the pig references although I don't totally understand all of them!

Perhaps "Pfingsten"

That's brilliant. Though I would expect something like "Hd" for "Holiday" in style of Tungsten/Wolfram.
