Happy Riot Day..I mean May Day

Living in Berlin has many advantages...It is a major capital European city and always has something to do.

Today is May Day - a celebration similar to the US's Labor Day. However, we are in Germany and because Berlin is "not" Germany, here is how some celebrate "International Worker's Day."

You can read an interesting article about the history of May Day here. Of course, what would riots and car-burning be without an anti-fascist counter-demonstration planned?

Of course, we will be staying far away from any extremists, although I do like what John Cleese has to say about it.

We are invited to a BBQ at a friend's house but will be home in plenty of time before dark. Guess that makes us lame...but we are ok with that!

Don't forget Hamburg, it's not really better over there... The John Cleese clip: great.

This was all happening about 2 blocks from where we live now in Kreuzberg. What a way to be welcomed to the city!
